5/5/12 The Ancient Ohio Landscape 12:00 PM Secor No Registration Required
  Stunning images by photographers Art Weber and Tim Black reveal the Native American earthworks of pre historic Ohio. Recent discoveries about these mysterious earthworks give evidence that Ohio was a cultural center in ancient North America. Prominently featured in the exhibit are four ancient earthworks under consideration for UNESCO World Heritage status including the Newark Earthworks, The Fort Ancient Enclosure, Serpent Mound and the restored Mound City. This exhibit is presented as part of the Ancient Ohio Summer of events sponsored by the Newark Earthworks Center and the Ohio State University Newark Campus.

  Ohioís most prolific and recognized landscape photographer displays images from his latest book. Ian Adams preserves in photos the best of what is left of the natural landscape and wildness that was once the ancient home of Ohioís earthworks heritage.

  Continuing with additional photos, this exhibit by Metroparks director of photography Art Weber, is a revealing look at the special features to be discovered on newly acquired Metroparks natural areas. New Lands, New Discoveries is made possible by a Metroparks Members Grant and support from The Andersons and American Frame.

  Nature Camp doesnít have to end just because summer is over. Every month camp is not in session in 2012, Metroparks is hosting a special time for campers to reunite and extend their great nature experience. There are more birds in Ohio this time of year than any other. Letís see how many we can find.

  'The Oak Openings Blues" highlights in photos the many plants, animals, insects, amphibians, etc. that are colored blue. Expanded for 2012 with new images from local photographers, this exhibit in celebration of Blue Weekend features amazing plants, animals and scenery that bring the color blue to the Oak Openings.  
5/19/12 Sand to Glass: Metroparks and Toledo Museum of Art 12:30 PM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Fusing nature, history and art sand to glass explores the Toledo glass industry's connection the Oak Openings region's unique resources. Participants meet at one of the nation's most unusual natural areas, the Oak Openings sand dunes to learn about natural glass before travelling on their own to the Toledo Museum of Art for a tour of the Glass Pavilion. The program concludes by creating your own glass flower as a reminder of this unique outing. Registration opens April 23, 2012 and participants must call 419-254-5771 ext. 7432 to register.  
5/19/12 Volunteer Naturalist Training 1:00 PM Side Cut Registration Closed
  Nature interpretation, seasonal plant and animal cycles, and Northwest Ohio natural history is the focus of this monthly, outdoor field study at various Metroparks locations. Recommended for Metroparks walk leaders, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, and Volunteer Trail Patrol.

  THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. PLEASE JOIN US ON JULY 4TH FOR THE NEXT VINTAGE BASEBALL GAME. No glove? No problem. Come see how baseball was meant to be played when the Sylvania Great Black Swamp Frogs take on their opponents in an 1860s "base ball match."
