  A singletrack bike trail is on its way to being completed! This trail is being built at Oak Openings Preserve with the help of volunteers. An estimated 1,000 hours of volunteer time will be needed to construct this trail. Wear long pants, bug spray and sunblock. Bring your gloves, a water bottle and an attitude to get it done. Ages 14+

  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite warm beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional).

4/13/17 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Create (Adults) 4:00 PM Side Cut Registration Closed
  Art goes green! Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world's environmentóthat's YOUR environment. The waste humans create has to be carefully controlled to be sure that it does not harm your environment and your health. Art can be an environmentally sustainable and responsible manner to deal with waste. Join Metroparks and Scrap 4 Art, Thursday afternoons in the park getting your creative on using waste materials to create something new. Every week a different project will be created using surplus donations from Scrap 4 Art. Register all attending program.  
4/13/17 Ladies Night Out: Campfire Cooking and Fire Building 5:30 PM Middlegrounds Registration Closed
  Fill up on hearty recipes for camping adventures and stoke your interest in fire building. Learn different methods of fire building and put your new knowledge to the test by cooking a delicious trail meal over a campfire. Recipe includes white chicken chili. Bring a reusable plate, utensils and a cup, and dress for the weather.

  Exhibits from the nationís premier nature photographers hang alongside images by local talent in this gallery. The National Center for Nature Photography at Secor Metropark is the only center of its kind in the country. Gallery open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  Park specific natural and cultural history, interpretation and seasonal plant and animal cycles are the focus of this monthly, outdoor field study. Open to all interested adults and recommended for Metroparks Walk Leaders, Roving Interpreters, Wildlife Monitors, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists and Volunteer Trail Patrol(VMT).  
4/14/17 Good Health Walk: a brisk walk on park trails 11:00 AM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.

  It's time to wet a line! Bring your bear cubs out to learn the basics of fishing, poles, bait and instructions provided. Dress for the outdoors as we will spend an hour trying to entice some fish onto shore. You can bring a small folding chair.

No geocaching experience necessary; GPS units will be provided. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Register all participants ages 5-17; adult chaperones do not need to register.

4/18/17 NorthWest Ohio River Runners Meeting: A Kayak Group Open to the Public 6:30 PM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  This month the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will teach part 2 of 2 paddle sport safety classes. The class is free.

The first class covers basic terminology and safety equipment, while the second class will follow up on the handling of your craft in various situations. Pat Groves and Robin Rex of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary present these free classes, but a suggested workbook to follow along in class is $15 purchased at the door and can be shared by family members.

Join the NorthWest Ohio River Runners (NWORR) kayak and canoe enthusiasts for their off-season winter meetings.

Their mission is, "to inform, teach, and share in the fun and safety of the sport, for individuals and families in northwest Ohio and across the country."

  It's important to stay active at all ages and equally important to spend time in nature. Come move, learn and socialize as we take a gently paced nature walk around Wildwood. Dress accordingly for the weather and any age is welcome in this walking group.  
4/19/17 Reforestation Work Day: Work Site Prep 4:00 PM Fallen Timbers Battlefield Registration Closed
  Join us in our reforestation efforts at Fallen Timbers Battlefield. We need help hauling materials to the worksite. Volunteers must be able to lift 50lbs. Be sure to dress for the weather. Please wear only closed toed shoes to protect your feet!

4/19/17 CANCELLED:Try it! Bouldering: (Ages 9 -17) 6:30 PM Blue Creek Conservation Area Registration Closed
  Youth ages 9-17 years boulder through time to get a grip on what 400 million year old fossils look like! Basic bouldering styles and safety will be introduced followed by an up close and personal lesson about the life forms that created the limestone wall you traverse. Wear comfortable clothes and hard soled shoes and dress for the weather.
