  It's time to get creative in the park after dark by making art. Snow is one of the most beautiful parts of winter. Learn about this beautiful weather phenomenon, take some inspiration from the park and put it all together to create your own snowscape masterpiece. No art experience needed, just a willingness to try and have fun! All supplies included. Please register all participants.

  Meet Metroparks Toledo and Toledo Lucas County Public Library staff at Toledo's Main Library for an awesome snow adventure. Come learn about the science of snow. Dress in layers, we plan to spend a little time outside looking at real snow! Snack provided. Register online at toledolibrary.org/metroparks.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.

  Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region's rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time. After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.  
1/14/18 Adult Learning Series: Canadian Color 2:00 PM Toledo Botanical Garden Registration Closed
  Enrich your knowledge of the natural and cultural history of our region through this weekly lecture series featuring an indoor presentation followed by an optional, short naturalist led hike. This week Mary Visco, Metroparks horticultural technician, will highlight photos taken across eastern Canada of public and private gardens. Narration includes the Canadian gardening heritage which is heavily influenced by British gardens. The Terrace Room is located at the Conference Center.

  This is an informal meeting to learn all about Metroparks Volunteer Trail Patrol program. VTP can been seen in their bright yellow shirts regularly patrolling park trails. The new patrol season begins on May 1.[VMT]  
1/14/18 NEW! Tree Climbing, NIGHT CLIMB: (Ages 8+) 5:30 PM Secor Registration Closed
  Join Metroparks naturalists at this new "tree-mendous" tree climbing opportunity! Participants will be using harnesses and climbing ropes to get to the tree-tops.

This climb will be a unique night-time glow climb! Participants will receive headlamps and glow sticks to navigate to the top. It will be cold! Warm beverages and fire pit included.

All equipment provided. Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes.

1/16/18 NorthWest Ohio River Runners Meeting: A Kayak Group Open to the Public 6:30 PM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  At the January meeting, Charlie Johnson, retiree from the CITE Program at the Lucas County Juvenile Court, will show a 15 minute power point presentation and will discuss the boat program at the Sofia Quintero Center. The Sofia Quintero Center over the last 10 years has built 11 boats by youths referred by the Juvenile Court, these boats included 2 row boats, 1 sailboat and 8 cedar strip canoes.

Charlie will also bring a cedar strip kayak built and donated to the Sofia Quintero Center. This kayak will be raffled at a later date, but will be selling tickets at the meeting to help support the program. He will also be discussing opportunities for others interested in woodworking, boat building and paddling to get involved in the boat program.

Join the NorthWest Ohio River Runners (NWORR) kayak and canoe enthusiasts for their off-season winter meetings.

Their mission is, "to inform, teach, and share in the fun and safety of the sport, for individuals and families in northwest Ohio and across the country."

  Make Thursday morning your bird watching time! Bring your favorite morning beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional). No birding experience necessary.

  Ever wonder what is behind all those closed doors? Or, where did the maids work and sleep? Take this unique opportunity to see all four floors of the Wildwood Manor House and discover more about what life was like when the historic home was called Stranleigh. Small groups will tour typically closed spaces from the boiler room to the attic. Space is limited.
