6/6/17 Iintroduction to Group Cycling: Presented by Toledo Area Bicyclists (Adults) 6:30 PM Secor Registration Closed
  This is session 4 of 4. Please register for the first session on May 16.

In this four-week clinic, Toledo Area Bicyclists (TAB) and Metroparks team up to introduce intermediate cyclists to the basics of group cycling—a fun, safe, social way to ride! Each session features 10-15 minutes of new instruction followed by a 16 -20 mile practice ride that is small chain ring, no drop, and at an average 14-16 mph speed. Sessions culminate with group discussions of the rides. If you are an intermediate rider new to group cycling or looking to brush up on group riding skills, this clinic is for you.

Road bikes are highly recommended, helmets are mandatory. This is a 4 week session that meets May 16, 23, 30 and June 6.

  Park specific natural and cultural history, interpretation and seasonal plant and animal cycles are the focus of this monthly, outdoor field study. Open to all interested adults and recommended for Metroparks Walk Leaders, Roving Interpreters, Wildlife Monitors, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists and Volunteer Trail Patrol(VMT).  
6/7/17 Toddler Trails: Toddlers to 3 years 10:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Waiting List
  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddles up to three years of age to the natural world and promotes its preservation. Parents accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program. Register toddlers only.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.

  Come spend a few hours engaging your inner child and learning how to share nature with young children. Growing Up Wild is a free, nature based curriculum supported by Ohio Division of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. A great workshop for pre-school and early elementary teachers, homeschool parents and afterschool providers. Aligned with ODE standards, this workshop will include hands-on engaging activities ideal for 3-7 year olds. Free resource books are provided. Bring a water bottle and be ready to participate and be like a kid again.

  The Friends of Pearson always welcome fellow fans of the park to help plan events and volunteer activities. These meetings are the best way to learn how to support the popular Oregon Metropark.

  Enjoy an invigorating 3-5 mile hike as you experience sights and sound of the park after dark. Sturdy hiking shoes and water recommended. Bug spray optional. Only red-tinted headlamps or flashlights permitted during the hike.

  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite warm beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby areas for bird activity.

  Art goes green! Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world's environment—that's YOUR environment. The waste humans create has to be carefully controlled to be sure that it does not harm your environment and your health. Art can be an environmentally sustainable and responsible manner to deal with waste. Join Metroparks and Scrap 4 Art, Thursday afternoons in the park getting your creative on using waste materials to create something new. Every week a different project will be created using surplus donations from Scrap 4 Art. Register all attending program.

6/9/17 South Bass Island Kayak Rendezvous: All Skill-Levels, (Adults) 12:00 PM Off-Site Waiting List
  Paddle off for a weekend of camping, kayaking, and fun with Metroparks kayak instructors at the South Bass Island Kayak Rendezvous. Enjoy two nights of camping out, kayaking, exploring the islands and socializing with other paddlers of all experience levels at the rendezvous.

All skill levels are welcome. Everything from beginner-friendly shoreline paddles to more advanced island crossings paddles are available.

Trip fee includes ferry to and from the island, campground costs, and kayak and paddling gear rental fee. Some meals are provided. For more detailed information and a tentative schedule, contact trip leader Amanda Howard.

6/10/17 Mountain Biking 101, Braking and Trackstands: (Ages 5-17) Presented by Spoke Life Cycles 10:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Register
  Learn the basics of off-road cycling and gain the skills and confidence required to ride the tougher sections of trail. Topics range from cycling basics and trail fundamentals to technical riding skills. This class is well-suited for riders of all levels.

Presented by Spoke Life Cycles.

Bring your own bike, helmet, and water. Limited mountain bikes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  This program is session 2 of 4. Program fees cover all four yoga classes in the June session, June 3, 10, 17, and 24. Please register for the June 3rd class only.

Enjoy the beauty of Wildwood Metropark and the benefits of Yoga. Gain flexibility, strength, balance, and stress management tools while surrounded by the peaceful offerings of the one of the area’s most beautiful preserves. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. All levels welcome. Teacher, Ann Heckler E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher), uses her 20 years of teaching experience to create options for all levels of yoga practice.

6/10/17 13th Running of Happy Trails 5K Run/Walk 9:30 PM Wildwood Preserve Register
  Lucky 13 - it's the 13th anniversary of Happy Trails...Let's celebrate by breaking all the rules. We are running/walking after dark at Wildwood Preserve. Let's hold the largest glow run in the region. Get creative, wear your best glow attire, glow sticks, necklaces, balloons and how about tutu's and fairy wings. And in breaking all the rules for lucky 13 - no chip timing this year, we will put up an unofficial clock so you can see your time if you wish. There will be a 5K route as well as 1 mile route. Snacks, music, light show. Be a part of the Lucky 13th, or is it the un-lucky 13th? Sign up today. T-shirts to registered participants while supplies last. Children 5 and under are free and are not required to register. Online Registration closes at 4 p.m. on June 9. Everyone starts at 9:30 p.m., no late starters for safety reasons.

Learn how to fish safe and responsibly following local regulations and Leave No Trace principles. Scouts ages 16 and older must possess a valid fishing license. Equipment and bait provided.

  Hey Kids! Come outside and play in a week long adventure. Chase insects, spy on birds and track animals through the park. Hands-on experiments, games, crafts and activities included. Challenge yourself to try canoeing, archery, fishing and stream exploration during fieldtrips. Fee includes a t-shirt, field trip transportation, and a snack each day. A packed lunch and reusable water bottle are required.
