  Join The University of Toledo, Center for Successful Aging every Monday and Friday for a fitness walking program in the Metroparks. Open to all adults. Classes are free to the public. Fitness classes will accommodate beginner, intermediate and advanced fitness levels. Free t-shirt for all participants. 6/3/17 Trail Challenge 10:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Register
  Help us celebrate National Trail Day by signing up to take the Trail Challenge. Set your goal of 50, 100 or 150 miles and create your plan to accomplish your goal and hike! To participate: register online or mail in your registration form with your entry fee. You will receive a t-shirt, entry into the Trail Challenge FaceBook group and invitations to special trail hikes. Your reward will be a hiking stick with the badge of the miles you completed 50, 100 or 150. The form is for you to track your mileage. You can drop off or mail your completed form to Wildwood Preserve Visitors Center by June 30, 2018. You will then be notified when rewards are available for pick-up.

Metroparks encourages you to set a stretch goal, a GET OUTSIDE YOURSELF kind of goal. For some, that will be accomplishing the 50 miles for others the 100 or 150. Watch for Metroparks Featured Trails. Try a trail in a Metropark you've not previously visited. When registering online enter your Mile Goal into the 'Age of Children' text field.

 
7/11/17 Archery League-Advanced: Ages 8 + 7:00 PM Westwinds Registration Closed
  Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms, a boat, a blind and more! The first meeting is mandatory, but then will be open from Tuesday through Sunday for participants to log their scores.

Classes will consist of:
Youth (Ages 8 to 16)
Traditional
Women Only
Hunter (12 in max stabilizer, screw in field points)
Open (range finder allowed)
Crossbow
(When registering, please specify which class you will compete in the Special Needs field.)

If you don't have your own equipment, you can still participate! Please register for the Beginners Only session.

This is a 10 week league. Please register only for the first program on July 11th. Thank you!

Save the date! Metroparks will host a celebration and awards party at Westwinds Metropark, September 19, 2017, 6-8pm.

Metroparks Outdoor Skills Staff will help walk you through your first 3D league. Meetings are every Tuesday at 5:30 pm. The 1st week will consist of instruction on shooting and scoring. No sights or other special equipment will be utilized unless you took a 201 course with Metroparks.

Classes consist of:
Youth (Ages 8 to 16)
Women Only
Open (Men and Women)

(When registering, please specify which class you will be in the special needs field. All youth participants will require a parent or guardian supervision at all times.)

This is a 6 week league. Please register only for the first program on August 8th.

8/17/17 Wake Up With the Birds: Adults 8:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Registration Closed
  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite morning beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional). No birding experience necessary!

After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.  
8/17/17 Reduce, Reuse, Recycle to Create (Adults): Adults 4:00 PM Fallen Timbers Battlefield Register
  Art goes green! Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world's environment‑that's YOUR environment. The waste humans create has to be carefully controlled. Art can be an environmentally sustainable and responsible manner to deal with waste. Spend your Thursday afternoons in the park getting your creative on using waste materials to create something new. Every week a different project can be started and if one does not finish register for the next class to finish. Register all attending.  
8/17/17 Archery 101: (Ages 16+) 6:30 PM Westwinds Registration Closed
  Transform into an arrow-slinging archer here! Archery 101 has two sessions for the novice. Get the tools to safely navigate the range, become familiar with basic archery equipment & start working on precision and accuracy.

Registration fee includes both sessions. Register only if you can attend both sessions. Only Metroparks equipment may be used. First session is August 17, 2017. Second session is August 31, 2017. Both sessions are from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

 
8/17/17 Friends of Side Cut: Paint with Friends! 7:00 PM Off-Site No Registration Required
  We will meet at 7pm at the You Can Be An Artist studio in the basement of 415 Conant Street, Maumee Ohio for this fun painting event with step by step instructions. You will take home a completed, ready to frame canvas that you painted while socializing and sipping your favorite drink (bring your own beverage). No painting experience necessary and all art supplies provided. Fee is $25.00. For information and to RSVP, call (419) 897- 8663.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.  
8/18/17 Noon Tunes on the Lawn 12:00 PM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Bring a lawn chair and your lunch to Wildwood Preserve. Relax for an hour on the Manor House grounds as local musical artists provide the entertainment for a fun summer memory in the parks.

Sponsored by the Manor House Volunteers.

This Month's Musicians: The Fritz Byers Band plays an eclectic mix of original songs in the American vein, variously influenced by the American folk tradition, roots music, alt-country, and the singer-songwriter stylings of the 60s and 70s. The band comprises Fritz on 6- and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars, resonator guitar, and vocals, Bruce Carr on acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, and harmonicas, Jeremy Kunkle on bass and vocals, Naomi Kunkle on vocals, and John Zima on drums, percussion, and vocals.

  Park specific natural and cultural history, interpretation, and volunteerism are the focus of this outdoor training that features a different Metropark each month. Open to all interested adults and recommended for Metroparks Volunteers.  
8/18/17 Campfire Cooking: Foraging for Food: All 5:30 PM Blue Creek Conservation Area Register
  Join Metroparks staff on a hunt for an all-natural meal. Build your knowledge of the natural edible plants found in our region and how to cook them. Cooking equipment, food, recipes, and instructions will be provided: just bring your appetite! Participants are also encouraged to bring their own reusable plate, bowl, silverware, and mug to minimize the amount of waste generated. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

  Metroparks presents BugFest!, a celebration of bugs. Experience the incredible, unforgettable Dr. Insecta Show starting at 10 a.m. Our community partners will be there to educate, entertain and amaze you with all things bugs. The National Center for Nature Photography will feature exhibits focused on bugs. Bugs, Bugs Bugs, we all love bugs. The entire family will love BugFest. No worries the food trucks will not be featuring edible bugs, bring your appetite and enjoy a nice lunch in the park.

8/20/17 Port of Toledo Kayak Adventure : (Ages 16+) 10:00 AM Off-Site Registration Closed
  Explore the history and industry at the mouth of the Maumee River. Kayak on the river with a naturalist and see parts of this 1 billion dollar economic engine.

Pack a lunch to take in your boat and plenty of water. All boats and paddling gear provided: wear clothing and shoes to get wet (no cotton). Participants must be 16 or older: all minors must be accompanied by an adult. This is an intermediate difficulty paddle: skill level required: intermediate: endurance required: intermediate.

8/20/17 Chiefs and Generals-Warriors,Scouts and Soldiers: All Ages 2:00 PM Fallen Timbers Battlefield Register
  Meet and talk to the people who fought the Battle of Fallen Timbers on the actual spot where it happened. In honor of the 223rd anniversary of the Battle of Fallen Timbers the Preservation Commission and the Metroparks are presenting a living history event at the Fallen Timbers Battlefield. Historical interpreters in period accurate uniforms and dress will be stationed along the trail to describe what happened there. Meet the people who made history.  
8/20/17 Cycle Circle:Glow Roll: 5 miles: Adults 9:00 PM Middlegrounds Register
  Light up the night with friends on a bike ride through your favorite parks. All skill levels and bikes are welcome. Please bring your bike, helmet (required), wear reflective gear and/or lights, bugspray and bring a water bottle. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

8/21/17 New Moon Hike 9:30 PM Wildwood Preserve Waiting List
  In the park after dark, come join Metroparks for some nocturnal fun. Just because it's dark out doesn't mean that the park inhabitants have gone to sleep. We'll use all of our senses on this walk and learn it's not scary to be outside in the dark. Dress accordingly for the weather and let's get outside.

  Travel along the banks of the Maumee River and down the canal towpath. A naturalist highlights the scenery, as passengers relax in Metroparks wheelchair accessible, open-air trolley. Maximum 2 wheel chairs per trip. All other participants must be able to climb 3 steps.

Register all participants ages 8+. Up to two children ages 4-7 may ride in the middle for free for every two registered participants. Please leave a comment with the ages of all children (for life jacket counts).  
8/22/17 Mansion Masterpieces: Landscapes (8 to 12 year old) 5:30 PM Wildwood Preserve Register
  A house's walls would be so plain except without the artwork we hang! Explore with am art educator the masterpiece's with plants displayed on the Manor House's walls and then make a painting of your own to hang on your wall.
