6/3/17 Trail Challenge 10:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Register
  Help us celebrate National Trail Day by signing up to take the Trail Challenge. Set your goal of 50, 100 or 150 miles and create your plan to accomplish your goal and hike! To participate: register online or mail in your registration form with your entry fee. You will receive a t-shirt, entry into the Trail Challenge FaceBook group and invitations to special trail hikes. Your reward will be a hiking stick with the badge of the miles you completed 50, 100 or 150. The form is for you to track your mileage. You can drop off or mail your completed form to Wildwood Preserve Visitors Center by June 30, 2018. You will then be notified when rewards are available for pick-up.

Metroparks encourages you to set a stretch goal, a GET OUTSIDE YOURSELF kind of goal. For some, that will be accomplishing the 50 miles for others the 100 or 150. Watch for Metroparks Featured Trails. Try a trail in a Metropark you've not previously visited. When registering online enter your Mile Goal into the 'Age of Children' text field.

 
6/28/17 Archery League - Beginner: Equipment Provided (Ages 8+) 5:30 PM Westwinds Registration Closed
  No equipment? No problem! Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms. a boat, a blind and more!

Metroparks Outdoor Skills Staff will help walk you through your first 3D league. Meetings are every Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The 1st week will consist of instruction on shooting and scoring. No sights or other special equipment will be utilized unless you took a 201 course with Metroparks.

Classes consist of:
Youth (up to 16)
Women Only
Open (Men and Women)

(When registering, please specify which class you will be in the special needs field. All youth participants will require a parent or guardian supervision at all times.)

This is a 6 week league. Please register only for the first program on June 28th.

7/11/17 Archery League-Advanced: Ages 8 + 7:00 PM Westwinds Registration Closed
  Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms, a boat, a blind and more! The first meeting is mandatory, but then will be open from Tuesday through Sunday for participants to log their scores.

Classes will consist of:
Youth (Ages 8 to 16)
Traditional
Women Only
Hunter (12 in max stabilizer, screw in field points)
Open (range finder allowed)
Crossbow
(When registering, please specify which class you will compete in the Special Needs field.)

If you don't have your own equipment, you can still participate! Please register for the Beginners Only session.

This is a 10 week league. Please register only for the first program on July 11th. Thank you!

7/31/17 Nature Camp Session #3 (Ages 8-12) 9:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  An outdoor adventure is waiting for you at the Metroparks. Explore the trails, search for animals and splash into fun. Hands-on activities, games and crafts will have you searching for animals all across the park. Challenge yourself to try canoeing, archery, fishing and stream exploration during fieldtrips. Don't be bored this summer, stay active! Bring a friend or meet one here. Fee includes a t-shirt, field trip transportation, and a snack each day. A packed lunch and reusable water bottle are required.  
7/31/17 Time Travelers Camp: Ages 8-14 9:00 AM Side Cut Waiting List
  Would you survive early Ohio? Settlers had their own special ways to survive in the dense forests and swamplands. Each day, we will travel to a different time period and learn atlatl throwing skills, what life was like for soldiers in the 1700's, how to cook outdoors like the early settlers, navigate the Ohio canal system and much more. Camps are held rain or shine, with plenty of rainy day options.

  Travel along the banks of the Maumee River and down the canal towpath. A naturalist highlights the scenery, as passengers relax in Metroparks wheelchair accessible, open-air trolley. Maximum 2 wheel chairs per trip. All other participants must be able to climb 3 steps.

8/2/17 Toddlers Trails (Ages 18 months to 3) 10:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Waiting List
  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddlers to the natural world and promotes its preservation. Parents accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program. Register toddlers only.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.  
8/2/17 Stay Active Naturally: Walking Group (Ages 55 and Up) 2:00 PM Wildwood Preserve Registration Closed
  It's important to stay active at all ages and equally important to spend time in nature. Come move, learn and socialize as we take a gently paced nature walk around Wildwood. Dress accordingly for the weather and any age is welcome in this walking group.  
8/2/17 CANCELLED:Calling All Scouts! Senior Girl Scouts , Paddling (Kayaks) 2:00 PM Wiregrass Lake Registration Closed
  Grab a paddle and head out to the water for a fun-filled day of paddling. Scouts will explore the background of kayaking, practice techniques, learn how to stay safe on the water (including rescues) and enjoy a paddling nature adventure. All scouts will receive a Metroparks patch for participating. All boats and other paddling gear provided; wear clothing and shoes to get wet (no cotton).

  The Friends of Pearson always welcome fellow fans of the park to help plan events and volunteer activities. These meetings are the best way to learn how to support the popular Oregon Metropark.  
8/3/17 Wake Up With the Birds: Adults 8:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Registration Closed
  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite morning beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional). No birding experience necessary!

  Put your Orienteering skills to the test on our orienteering course. Brief introduction to the course and navigation included. Dress for weather and have footwear appropriate for off-trail and uneven ground.  
8/4/17 Deer Management Program 9:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Registration Closed
  Metroparks will utilize a lottery card drawing for archery deer hunts during the statewide deer hunting season, September 30, 2017 through February 4, 2018 as a component of the District's overall wildlife management program. The hunts will be analyzed to determine the effectiveness of archery hunting as a method to control deer populations. They will take place on parcels of property owned by the Metroparks of the Toledo Area in western Lucas County, Ohio, during normal hunting hours.

Follow the online registration steps to be entered into the lottery drawing with your paid application fee. You must enter your ODNR Hunting License # in the 'Age of Children' text box'. There will only be ONE application per person. Applications must be completed by 5 p.m. on August 31. Applications chosen to participate will need to complete a qualification test. The test will be administered at Bass Pro Shop in Rossford or Cleland's Outdoor World in Swanton and will require the applicant to hit an 8 inch target with four consecutive shots from 20 yards. Qualification must be completed prior to September 27th. Permits will be issued for three week blocks of time and each hunter may bring one licensed partner who also must qualify.
Enter your ODNR Hunting License # in the 'Age of Children' text box. If you require 'Accessibility Accommodations’ please note that in the 'Participants Special Needs' text box.

  Be a good steward of a natural resource – your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.

8/5/17 Wiregrass Takes Flight 10:00 AM Wiregrass Lake No Registration Required
  Flying Tigers Remote Control Model Club will take to the air again this summer over Wiregrass Lake. The planes are outfitted with pontoons to perform take offs and landings on the lake. Try your hand at flying in the Academy of Model Aeronautics Flight Simulator. You can fly and crash all you like until you get the touch of the controls. Maumee Valley Boat Club will be cruising the lake with their remote control boats. This event promises to be a flying and floating adventure. Pack a lunch, chairs and/or a blanket and enjoy the remote control action.

  Enjoy the beauty of Wildwood Metropark and the benefits of Yoga. Gain flexibility, strength, balance, and stress management tools while surrounded by the peaceful offerings of the one of the area’s most beautiful preserves. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. All levels welcome. Teacher, Ann Heckler E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher), uses her 20 years of teaching experience to create options for all levels of yoga practice.

Program fees cover all four yoga classes in the August session, August 5, 12, 19, and 26. Please register for the August 5th class only.

 
8/5/17 Try it! Night Fishing: (Adults Only) 8:30 PM Side Cut Registration Closed
  Experience the thrill of a night time fishing adventure on Maumee River! Many species of game fish use the cover of darkness as a cloak to voraciously feed, creating this unique angling opportunity!

Participants will be introduced to effective techniques to target several species. All gear is provided and anglers over 16 must bring a valid Ohio Fishing License.

 
8/6/17 Westwinds Takes Flight 10:00 AM Westwinds No Registration Required
  Flying Tigers Remote Control Model Club will take to the air over Westwinds. Have you ever wanted to experience holding the controls of a remote control plane? There will be "ground school training" in the Academy of Model Aeronautics Flight Simulator, where you can fly and crash all you like until you get the feel of the controls. Then you'll have the opportunity to experience flying the actual planes. The Airshow is at 12:30, the pro's will take to the air to thrill the crowd. Don't miss this action packed fun filled day. Pack a lunch, chairs and/or blanket and enjoy the remote control action.  
8/6/17 Chaos Comes to Town: 1851 on the Canal 12:00 PM Providence No Registration Required
  View what life was like on the Miami and Erie Canal during its heyday. Family games and activities are sure to delight. Save some time to stop by the Isaac Ludwig Mill and Heritage Center. The Volunteer Canal boat will have a special 1851 themed runs at 12:30 pm, 2:00pm and 3:30pm. Fee applies to ride the canal boat; tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth the day of while available.

  Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region's rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time.
