  Join us every Wednesday beginning April 5 through June 28 to get moving, socialize and learn from a Metroparks naturalist on this slow stroll along Wildwood's paved or gravel trails. Designed especially for 55 and older, but any age is welcome to join the fun.

  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite warm beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby areas for bird activity.

Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer Services staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

Orientations are held the first Tuesday and Thrusday of most months[VMT]

  This is session 2 of 2. Please register for the first session on 5/25/17.

Transform into an arrow-slinging archer here! Archery 101 has two sessions for the novice. Get the tools to safely navigate the range, become familiar with basic archery equipment & start working on precision and accuracy.

Registration fee includes both sessions. Register only if you can attend both sessions. Only Metroparks equipment may be used.

6/2/17 Good Health Walk: a brisk walk on park trails 11:00 AM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.

  Dozens of species of butterflies call the park home, search for butterflies of all colors and the flowers they love in the gardens, woods and prairies of Wildwood.  
6/2/17 CANCELLED Try it! Bouldering: (Ages 9-17) 6:30 PM Blue Creek Conservation Area Waiting List
  Youth ages 9-17 years boulder through time to get a grip on what 400 million year old fossils look like! Basic bouldering styles and safety will be introduced followed by an up close and personal lesson about the life forms that created the limestone wall you traverse. Wear comfortable clothes and hard soled shoes and dress for the weather.

  Enjoy breakfast with friends and neighbors in beautiful Wildwood Preserve. Scrumptious pancakes, sausage links, orange juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate are on the menu. Outside and inside seating available and the Volunteers in Parks will be cooking rain or shine. All proceeds go to purchase items from the Metroparks Staff 'Wish List'

  Be a good steward of a natural resource – your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.

6/3/17 Trail Challenge 10:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Register
  Help us celebrate National Trail Day by signing up to take the Trail Challenge. Set your goal of 50, 100 or 150 miles and create your plan to accomplish your goal and hike! To participate: register online or mail in your registration form with your entry fee. You will receive a t-shirt, entry into the Trail Challenge FaceBook group and invitations to special trail hikes. Your reward will be a hiking stick with the badge of the miles you completed 50, 100 or 150. The form is for you to track your mileage. You can drop off or mail your completed form to Wildwood Preserve Visitors Center by June 30, 2018. You will then be notified when rewards are available for pick-up.

Metroparks encourages you to set a stretch goal, a GET OUTSIDE YOURSELF kind of goal. For some, that will be accomplishing the 50 miles for others the 100 or 150. Watch for Metroparks Featured Trails. Try a trail in a Metropark you've not previously visited. When registering online enter your Mile Goal into the 'Age of Children' text field.

  Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region's rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time. After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.  
6/4/17 Geology Bike Ride: 12 miles, (Adults) 12:00 PM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Cycle back through time by exploring the geologic history of our area. We'll visit Oak Openings sand dunes, then pedal to Blue Creek to search for fossils and glacial striations. Along the way we'll learn about the many changes our landscape has seen over the millennia.

Bring your own bike: helmets required-some provided. Pack a lunch and water. This is an intermediate difficulty ride of 12 miles.

  Explore a site outside of the parks with Metropark's interpretive guide. Discover the different habitats found within the forest at Bittersweet Farm, located near Oak Openings Preserve. Bittersweeet Farms is a local agency committed to providing high quality programs for people in the community with autism. Metroparks is proud to offer these nature walks in collaboration with their regular daytime programs. Open to all ages.

  This program is cancelled: Travel along the banks of the Maumee River and down the canal towpath. A naturalist highlights the scenery, as passengers relax in Metroparks wheelchair accessible, open-air trolley. Maximum 2 wheel chairs per trip. All other participants must be able to climb 3 steps.

  Don't squish it! Explore these creepy crawlies and find out why they are so important. Make a craft, discover bug homes, and go on an insect hike.  
6/6/17 Iintroduction to Group Cycling: Presented by Toledo Area Bicyclists (Adults) 6:30 PM Secor Registration Closed
  This is session 4 of 4. Please register for the first session on May 16.

In this four-week clinic, Toledo Area Bicyclists (TAB) and Metroparks team up to introduce intermediate cyclists to the basics of group cycling—a fun, safe, social way to ride! Each session features 10-15 minutes of new instruction followed by a 16 -20 mile practice ride that is small chain ring, no drop, and at an average 14-16 mph speed. Sessions culminate with group discussions of the rides. If you are an intermediate rider new to group cycling or looking to brush up on group riding skills, this clinic is for you.

Road bikes are highly recommended, helmets are mandatory. This is a 4 week session that meets May 16, 23, 30 and June 6.
