  Travel along the banks of the Maumee River and down the canal towpath. A naturalist highlights the scenery, as passengers relax in Metroparks wheelchair accessible, open-air trolley. Program runs every Tuesday, June through October.  
6/5/13 Toddler Trails (Ages 18 months to 3 years) 10:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Waiting List
  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration program runs the first Wednesday of each month. Parent must accompany their child at the program. Register toddlers only.  
6/8/13 Birders of a Feather: Nesting Birds 8:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Nesting birds have returned to the region and Oak Openings is a great place to see red-headed woodpeckers and indigo buntings. Become part of a bird watching flock. The group meets at different parks each month to share the enjoyment of birding. First-timers and experienced birders love these monthly avian explorations. Bring binoculars and field guides. These programs are free, but please register if planning to attend.  
6/8/13 Maumee River Canoe Paddle 2:00 PM Farnsworth Registration Closed
  Explore the Maumee River on a three mile canoe paddle around Missionary Island. See one of northwest Ohio’s natural gems and get some exercise on this naturalist-led excursion. Participants must be 12 or older. All minors must be in the same canoe as their legal guardian. Program canceled if water is high. Two people per canoe. Participants should wear clothes that can get wet and bring sunscreen, bug spray and water.

  See one of the district's newest properties and meet Metroparks partners, Nature's Nursery and Lucas Soil & Water Conservation District.

  Explore the history of Wildwood using GPS to locate clues throughout the preserve.

  Camper's appreciation and understand of nature is sure to evolve during a week exploring change at Wildwood Preserve. Outdoor games, interactive activities and exploring for animals keep inquisitive kids engaged as Metroparks naturalist guide them through nature's ever changing features. Each day features a new theme making this a great experience for children who enjoy nature, history and the outdoors. Wildwood Preserve is home-base with exiciting trips planned to Pearson Metropark and more. Bring your own lunch and water bottle. Equipment, supplies and field trip transporation are provided. Camps are held rain or shine, with plenty of rainy day options.

  A Metroparks naturalist is the perfect guide to earning hte Naturalist pin. Webelos learn and earn all five requirements on this hike. Dress for outdoor walking in rain or shine. This is a drop off program.

  Wildwood Preserve is part of the globally threatened Oak Openings Region. The important habitat shelters many state-listed plants and animals. Enjoy a presentation and walk through this ecological haven to discover which rare species eke out an existence on this small, but precious piece of land.  
6/14/13 Especially for Families: Night Hike and Fireside Stories 7:30 PM Secor Registration Closed
  Enjoy early spring wildlife on this night hike through the woods and meadows of Secor Metropark. The evening ends with, hot chocolate and folk tales about nature. Register each family member.

  Visit local venues and discover how to access the educational services available in northwest Ohio featuring many curriculum connections. Cosponsored by Metroparks of the Toledo Area, The Challenger Learning Center, Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Toledo Mud Hens, The Blade, Franciscan Center at Lourdes University, Toledo Zoo and WGTE.   Search the meadows for insects and find out how many insects are helpful to us. Wee Workshop is a hands-on nature experience designed to cultivate children's love for the outdoors and includes a craft, story time and a nature walk. Register child only. Parent must attend the program with their child.  
6/19/13 Bird Study: Catbirds: Program Has Been Canceled 7:00 PM Wildwood Preserve Registration Closed
  These birds are numerous, noisy and nimble, but often overlooked. The Bird Study group meets monthly for an in-depth look at bird structures, behaviors and species. This program is designed as an indoor discussion, sharing and learning experience to enhance outdoor exploration and hone bird identification skills. All are welcome to join.  
6/22/13 Beginning Backpacking for Women: Cancelled 8:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  This program has been cancelled. After this weekend adventure trekking through Oak Openings, participants will master the basics of backpacking. Experienced staff guides this women-only group on a great Metroparks adventure. Fee includes all equipment needed, but participants must provide their own sleeping bag. Please dress for the weather. Call 419-708-1451 with questions.

  Experience Metroparks in a different light on this twilight ride along the banks of the Maumee River. Call owls and look for nocturnal activity during an extended open air trolley ride. The tram is wheelchair accessible.  
6/28/13 Field Studies for Adults: River Monitoring 4:00 PM Side Cut Registration Closed
  Attend one or all of these monthly field excursions featuring seasonal topics at opportune Metroparks sites. Dress to wade the rapids.
