  Stunning images by photographers Art Weber and Tim Black reveal the Native American earthworks of pre historic Ohio. Recent discoveries about these mysterious earthworks give evidence that Ohio was a cultural center in ancient North America. Prominently featured in the exhibit are four ancient earthworks under consideration for UNESCO World Heritage status including the Newark Earthworks, The Fort Ancient Enclosure, Serpent Mound and the restored Mound City. This exhibit is presented as part of the Ancient Ohio Summer of events sponsored by the Newark Earthworks Center and the Ohio State University Newark Campus.

  Ohio’s most prolific and recognized landscape photographer displays images from his latest book. Ian Adams preserves in photos the best of what is left of the natural landscape and wildness that was once the ancient home of Ohio’s earthworks heritage.

  Continuing with additional photos, this exhibit by Metroparks director of photography Art Weber, is a revealing look at the special features to be discovered on newly acquired Metroparks natural areas. New Lands, New Discoveries is made possible by a Metroparks Members Grant and support from The Andersons and American Frame.

6/11/12 Camp Earthstar (Ages 5 to 6) 9:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Spend an exciting week discovering what wild things live nearby. A week of hands-on activities, songs and outdoor fun awaits.
Home base is Oak Openings Preserve with exciting trips planned to Farnworth Metropark and Blue Creek Conservation Area to enjoy fishing, wildlife watching, and hands-on nature activities.
Camp will be held rain or shine with plenty of rainy day options. Bring your own lunch and water bottle. Equipment, supplies and field trip transportation are provided. Participants MUST be 5 to 6 years old during the session.
To better serve your child, please share any information about his/her allergies, behavioral, physical or emotional health about which we should be aware by typing in the Special Request field below.

Campers may attend a maximum of two weeks of Nature Camp. Applications for financial assistance are available for all camps, call 419-407-9701.

  Enjoy healthy outside activity with a special nature theme each week, designed especially for young children ages 3 and above and their adult companions. Dress for outdoors. Register children only.

  Ever wondered where the wind comes, how hail forms or if all clouds are the same? Scouts will find answers to these questions and more including rules to keep them safe in dangerous weather as they complete 7 of 10 requirements for this merit badge through lecture and discussion. A drop off program; rain or shine; dress for weather.
