  Ladies! Gather your friends for a fun morning of dancing that you will never forget. Learn many on and off body hula hoop moves and how to tie them together to create your own Hoop Dance routine. You will also get a killer cardio workout while toning your core. No experience needed. Professional, adult hula hoops provided. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water.

  Explore a site outside of the parks with Metropark's interpretive guide. Discover the different habitats found within the forest at Bittersweet Farm, located near Oak Openings Preserve. Bittersweeet Farms is a local agency committed to providing high quality programs for people in the community with autism. Metroparks is proud to offer these nature walks in collaboration with their regular daytime programs. Open to all ages.

5/1/17 Volunteer Training: Wiregrass and Westwinds Park Highlights 6:00 PM Wiregrass Lake Register
  Park specific natural and cultural history, interpretation and seasonal plant and animal cycles are the focus of this outdoor field study. We begin at Wiregrass and then car caravan to Westwinds Metropark. Recommended for Metroparks Walk Leaders, Roving Interpreters, Wildlife Monitors, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists and Volunteer Trail Patrol(VMT).

  What does a Scout need to consider in planning a successful hike for himself and his den? Scouts will create a hike plan for one of our beautiful Metroparks, learn about hazardous plants and animals, practice leave no trace principles, and complete a service project.

  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddlers to the natural world and promotes its preservation. Parents accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program. Register toddlers only.

  Stories from the Stranahan Estate come to life in this leisurely walking tour of the outbuildings at Wildwood Preserve. Discover how continuing preservation efforts, lasting over 70 years, maintained the timeless beauty of the land to complement the Manor House. Historical photos and stories from former workers at the estate transport visitors back to Toledo's golden years.

  It's important to stay active at all ages and equally important to spend time in nature. Come move, learn and socialize as we take a gently paced nature walk around Wildwood. Dress accordingly for the weather and any age is welcome in this walking group.

  A singletrack bike trail is on its way to being completed! This trail is being built at Oak Openings Preserve with the help of volunteers. An estimated 1,000 hours of volunteer time will be needed to construct this trail. Wear long pants, bug spray and sunblock. Bring your gloves, a water bottle and an attitude to get it done. Ages 14+

  What winged jewels decorate Wildwood Metropark this season? Register for one or all of these weekly walks to look at migratory songbirds followed by a cup of bird friendly brew in the Window on Wildlife.

  Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Metroparks of the Toledo Area!
Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer Services staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

Orientations are held the first Tuesday and Thrusday of most months. [VMT]

  We celebrate our “aloha spirit” in the casual fun of an “islands” setting. We may not have palm trees and pineapple plants, but we can share and enjoy our tea and stories of far-off island adventures! (Colors—yellow, bright pink and kiwi)

  Be a good steward of a natural resource – your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.

  Calling all pioneers of all ages, the Johlin Black Swamp Cabin is open. Home life has changed in the last 150 years. It is time to plant the kitchen garden. Lend a hand or just explore.  
5/6/17 Cycle Circle: Overnight Bike Trip, 40 miles 1:30 PM Secor Register
  Ever dream of going on a bike trip but not sure how or where to start? Here is your opportunity to camp out and explore the different Metroparks in a whole new way on this overnight bike trip.

The bike trip will begin at Secor Metropark in the National Center for Nature Photography parking lot, travel a total of 38.5 miles and end Sunday, May 7 at the same parking lot just in time for lunch. The trip will consist of 19 miles the first day and 20 miles the second day. All cyclist and camping levels are welcome to this beginner's cycling trip program.

One tent spot at a group campsite, certain bike gear (courtesy of Toledo Mountain Mentors), certain camping gear and a guide fee will be included in the registration fee. Food is not included.

The ride will include a stop at the new single track trail located at the Springbrook parking lot in Oak Openings.

*Please note we require all participants to attend the pre-trip information session on Sunday, April 30 from 7-8:30p.m. at the National Center for Nature Photography in Secor Metropark.

  Session 2 of 2. Please register for 4/29 program only.

Transform into an arrow-slinging archer in two sessions. Get the tools to safely navigate the range, become familiar with basic archery equipment & start working on precision and accuracy.

Registration fee includes both sessions. Register only if you can attend both. Only Metroparks equipment may be used. First session is Saturday April 29, 2017. Second session is Saturday May 6, 2017. Both session's are from 3:00pm till 4:30pm.

  Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region's rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time. After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.

  Discover what spring ephemerals carpet Oak Openings trails as the season progresses. Register for one or all of these walks led by OCVN Naturalists, Chris and Randy Haar.  
5/7/17 Bootcamp Fitness: (Ages 16+) 1:00 PM Middlegrounds Register
  This bootcamp class will be a total body workout. You will use your body weight to increase muscle and improve your conditioning. It will be done in station format and we will take advantage of all the great areas Middlegrounds Metropark has to offer.

All abilities are welcome to join us in a fun, challenging, outdoor workout.

Participants should make sure they have proper footwear and a water bottle. An exercise mat is optional.

Program fees include 4 classes on May 7, 14, 21, and 28. Please register for the first class only on May 7.
