6/3/17 Trail Challenge 10:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Registration Closed
  Help us celebrate National Trail Day by signing up to take the Trail Challenge. Set your goal of 50, 100 or 150 miles and create your plan to accomplish your goal and hike! To participate: register online or mail in your registration form with your entry fee. You will receive a t-shirt, entry into the Trail Challenge FaceBook group and invitations to special trail hikes. Your reward will be a hiking stick with the badge of the miles you completed 50, 100 or 150. The form is for you to track your mileage. You can drop off or mail your completed form to Wildwood Preserve Visitors Center by June 30, 2018. You will then be notified when rewards are available for pick-up.

Metroparks encourages you to set a stretch goal, a GET OUTSIDE YOURSELF kind of goal. For some, that will be accomplishing the 50 miles for others the 100 or 150. Watch for Metroparks Featured Trails. Try a trail in a Metropark you've not previously visited. When registering online enter your Mile Goal into the 'Age of Children' text field.

 
4/1/18 Historical Tours of the Manor House 12:00 PM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Enjoy a free guided tour of this over 30,000 square foot, Depression-era home and learn about the region's rich history or walk through the first floor in your own time. After touring the Manor House, save time to walk through the Ellen Biddle Shipman Gardens or walk the trails through the spectacular grounds of Wildwood Preserve.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.  
4/2/18 Volunteer Training: Blue Creek Park Highlights 6:00 PM Blue Creek Conservation Area Waiting List
  Park Specific natural and cultural history, interpretation and volunteerism are the focus of this outdoor training that feature a different Metropark each month. Open to all interested adults and recommended for Metropark Volunteers (VMT).  
4/2/18 Backpacking Overnight: Mandatory Pre-Trip Meeting 6:30 PM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  This is the mandatory pre-trip meeting for the backpacking overnight on April 7-8. We will check and fit gear, talk about the trip and answer any questions.

Escape into nature for an overnight retreat and explore the beautiful views of the Maumee River and our river Metroparks as you backpack through 14 miles of trail. Participants will traverse riparian habitats while learning valuable backpacking and camping skills.

No backpacking experience necessary; this hike is perfect for the beginner backpacker. Recommended ages 16 or older. Please call to discuss younger participants. All minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, pads, stove and cook sets available to borrow. Meals not included.

Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer Services staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

  Make Wednesday mornings between the Spring Equinox and Memorial Day your time to get outside and get moving as you take in the beauty of Spring. An interpreter will share seasonal highlights and lead you on this moderately-paced walk along a 1.5 mile loop trail. Estimated walking time 35-45 minutes.

  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddlers up to three years of age to the natural world and promotes its preservation. Parents accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program.

  Make Thursday morning your bird watching time! Bring your favorite morning beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional). No birding experience necessary.

  We begin our Tea Season with a celebration of our beloved manor House, which became ahome in 1938 and remains a premier historical landmark home in our community. Come celebrate our "jewel" with us! (Colors--Black, Gold, and Silver)

The 2018 Tea season seating includeds both reservation (11:30am-12:30pm) and non-reservation (walk-in) guests from 12:30pm onward.

  Exhibits from the nationís premier nature photographers hang alongside images by local talent in this gallery. The National Center for Nature Photography at Secor Metropark is the only center of its kind in the country. Gallery open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Noon to 6 p.m.

  Turn your muffin tin into a mini Dutch oven and the possibilities are endless. Come see what's cookin' this spring! Cooking equipment, food , recipes and instructions will be provided. Participants assist with preparation and are encouraged to bring their own reusable plate, bowl, silverware and mug for testing. Dress for the weather. Program runs rain or shine.
