  Be a good steward of a natural resource Ė your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.

  Reduce stress and increases well-being! Experience a shortened version of a Forest Therapy journey as a certified guide leads you on this short, nonstrenuous walk designed around activities that invite you to connect with nature by using all of your senses and staying in the present moment. 4/1/17 Singletrack Bike Trail Work Day 9:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  A singletrack bike trail is on its way to being completed! This trail is being built at Oak Openings Preserve with the help of volunteers. An estimated 1,000 hours of volunteer time will be needed to construct this trail. Wear long pants, bug spray and sunblock. Bring your gloves, a water bottle and an attitude to get it done. Ages 14+

  More than 500,000 walleye enter the Maumee River for their annual spawning migration. Learn how to reel-in a successful fishing season this year. Join a Metroparks naturalist and fishing expert for this hour-long walleye-run prep course. Gear, tackle, rigs, fishing tactics, and locations will be covered.

  Explore a site outside of the parks with Metropark's interpretive guide. Discover the different habitats found within the forest at Bittersweet Farm, located near Oak Openings Preserve. Bittersweeet Farms is a local agency committed to providing high quality programs for people in the community with autism. Metroparks is proud to offer these nature walks in collaboration with their regular daytime programs. Open to all ages.

  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.

  Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Metroparks of the Toledo Area!
Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer Services staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

Orientations are held the first Tuesday and Thrusday of most months. [VMT]

  Stories from the Stranahan Estate come to life in this leisurely walking tour of the outbuildings at Wildwood Preserve. Discover how continuing preservation efforts, lasting over 70 years, maintained the timeless beauty of the land to complement the Manor House. Historical photos and stories from former workers at the estate transport visitors back to Toledo's golden years.  
4/4/17 Calling All Scouts!: Boy Scout Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge 6:00 PM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Scouts see what's happening right under their feet as soil and water makes the world function. There is no better place to earn your badge than the diverse Oak Openings Preserve, with everything from sandy and clay soils to rivers and watersheds.

This is a two session program; 4/4/17 and 4/25/17. Register only for the 1st session 4/4/2017. This is a drop-off program.

  Join us every Wednesday beginning April 5 through June 28 to get moving, socialize and learn from a Metroparks naturalist on this slow stroll along Wildwood's paved or gravel trails. Designed especially for 55 and older, but any age is welcome to join the fun.

  Enjoy an invigorating 3-5 mile hike as you experience sights and sound of the park after dark. Sturdy hiking shoes and water recommended. Bug spray optional. Only red-tinted headlamps or flashlights permitted during the hike.

  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite warm beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional).
