  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddlers up to three years of age to the natural world and promotes preservation. Parent accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program. Register toddlers only.

  It's important to say active at all ages and equally important to spend time in nature. Come move, learn and socialize as we take a gently paced nature walk around Wildwood Metropark. Dress accordingly for the weather.

  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite warm beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional).

  Weekly fun for our youngest park visitors. Preschoolers, toddlers, and their guardians enjoy story time, a walk and create a nature craft to take home.  
3/2/17 Hurray for Homeschoolers: March of the Amphibians 10:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Registration Closed
  Hop, leap and slither to Oak Openings to learn about the amazing springtime migration of amphibians. Use your senses of sight and hearing to locate singing frogs. After an indoor presentation, we will drive to find amphibians. Wear boots or shoes that can get muddy.

  Art goes green! Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world's environment—that's YOUR environment. The waste humans create has to be carefully controlled to be sure that it does not harm your environment and your health. Art can be an environmentally sustainable and responsible manner to deal with waste. Join Metroparks and Scrap 4 Art, Thursday afternoons in the park getting your creative on using waste materials to create something new. Every week a different project will be created using surplus donations from Scrap 4 Art. Register all attending program.

Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer SErvices staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

Orientations are held the first Tuesday and Thrusday of most months.[VMT]

  Be a good steward of a natural resource – your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.
