  Join The University of Toledo, Center for Successful Aging every Monday and Friday for a fitness walking program in the Metroparks. Open to all adults. Classes are free to the public. Fitness classes will accommodate beginner, intermediate and advanced fitness levels. Free t-shirt for all participants. 6/3/17 Trail Challenge 10:00 AM Metroparks of the Toledo Area Register
  Help us celebrate National Trail Day by signing up to take the Trail Challenge. Set your goal of 50, 100 or 150 miles and create your plan to accomplish your goal and hike! To participate: register online or mail in your registration form with your entry fee. You will receive a t-shirt, entry into the Trail Challenge FaceBook group and invitations to special trail hikes. Your reward will be a hiking stick with the badge of the miles you completed 50, 100 or 150. The form is for you to track your mileage. You can drop off or mail your completed form to Wildwood Preserve Visitors Center by June 30, 2018. You will then be notified when rewards are available for pick-up.

Metroparks encourages you to set a stretch goal, a GET OUTSIDE YOURSELF kind of goal. For some, that will be accomplishing the 50 miles for others the 100 or 150. Watch for Metroparks Featured Trails. Try a trail in a Metropark you've not previously visited. When registering online enter your Mile Goal into the 'Age of Children' text field.

 
11/1/17 Fallen Timbers Autumn Health Walk 8:30 AM Fallen Timbers Battlefield Register
  Make Wednesday mornings between Labor Day and Thanksgiving your time to get outside and get moving as you take in the beauty of Fall. An interpreter will share seasonal highlights and lead you on this moderately-paced walk along a 1.5 mile loop trail. Estimated walking time 35-45 minutes.  
11/1/17 Toddler Trails 10:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Register
  This outdoor, multi-sensory nature play and exploration introduces your toddler up to three years of age to the natural world and promotes its preservation. Parents accompany and assist in their child's experience at the program. Register toddlers only.  
11/1/17 Good Health Walks 11:00 AM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.  
11/1/17 Active Adult walking group 55+ 2:00 PM Wildwood Preserve Register
  It's important to stay active at all ages and equally important to spend time in nature. Come move, learn and socialize as we take a gently paced nature walk around Wildwood. Dress accordingly for the weather and any age is welcome in this walking group.

  Has anyone ever told you to "Take a hike!" Now you can do it with pleasure and confidence! From plotting your route, to hitting the trail, practice all steps required to plan a successful hike. All Scouts will receive a Metroparks patch for participating.

  The Friends of Pearson always welcome fellow fans of the park to help plan events and volunteer activities. These meetings are the best way to learn how to support the popular Oregon Metropark.  
11/2/17 Wake Up With the Birds 8:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Register
  Make Thursday mornings your bird watching time! Bring your favorite morning beverage and join us in Wildwood's Window on Wildlife for this informal viewing and interpretation of our feathered friends. At 8:30, we may venture out to take a quick look in nearby trees and meadows (optional). No birding experience necessary!
 
11/2/17 Calling All Scouts!: Bear Cubs, Fur, Feathers, and Ferns 5:00 PM Wildwood Preserve Waiting List
  Get out and explore nature! Bears will look near and far at the plants and animals that call Metroparks home. What will we find on our one mile hike? Every hike in the parks is a different experience.

Prior to volunteering, all new volunteers are are encouraged to attend this orientation which enables the Volunteer Services staff to meet prospective volunteers, learn more about their interests,review park policies and procedures, and provide an overview of Metropark volunteer opportunities.

Orientations are held the first Tuesday and Thrusday of most months. [VMT]

11/4/17 Ohio Boating Education Course, OBEC 8:00 AM Wildwood Preserve Register
  What is OBEC? OBEC is Ohio's official boating education course. This standardized 8-hour course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and is offered throughout Ohio to supplement other boating education opportunities. Course content focuses on Ohio and Federal boating laws including equipment requirements, operating laws, rules of the road, and buoy systems, plus topics of risk management, basic safety practices, and survival in emergencies.

Bring a lunch. We will take a 30 minute break.

  Be a good steward of a natural resource Ė your Metroparks! Volunteers join our Land Stewards on a restoration project which may include invasive species removal. Public volunteer days occur most first Saturdays of the month. Please be sure to dress for the weather and sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Community groups and individuals are welcome.

  Get to know a trail with a park naturalist! we walk hike a trail in a different park each month. Dress for the weather and bring water.  
11/5/17 Archery 101: (Ages 8-15) 1:00 PM Side Cut Register
  Transform into an arrow-slinging archer here! Archery 101 has two sessions for the novice. Get the tools to safely navigate the range, become familiar with basic archery equipment & start working on precision and accuracy.

This is session 2 of 2. Registration fee includes both sessions. Register only if you can attend both sessions. Only Metroparks equipment may be used. First session is October 29, 2017. Second session is November 5, 2017. Both sessions are from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

  Come to the park with your favorite furry friend! We'll take a naturalist led hike at a different park each month. Please remember to bring a leash as all dogs must be on leash at every Metropark. Coming soon in 2017: Middlegrounds will have the first dog park in the Metroparks!

  Explore a site outside of the parks with Metropark's interpretive guide. Discover the different habitats found within the forest at Bittersweet Farm, located near Oak Openings Preserve. Bittersweeet Farms is a local agency committed to providing high quality programs for people in the community with autism. Metroparks is proud to offer these nature walks in collaboration with their regular daytime programs. Open to all ages.
