  Join Metroparks staff for an enjoyable campfire culinary experience and find your way through the night sky. Create a delicious campfire treat while learning the rich history of constellations in the night sky. This session's menu includes campfire brownies. Binocluars, telescope, cooking equipment, food recipies, and instructions will be provided; just bring your appetite! participants are also encouraged to bring your own reusable plate, bowl, silverware and mug to minimize the amount of waste generated. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

  Join Metroparks naturalists at this new "tree-mendous" tree climbing opportunity! Participants will be using harnesses and climbing ropes to get to the tree-tops. All equipment provided. Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes.

  Enjoy an invigorating 3 to 5 mile hike through the park at night and explore the sights and sound of the park after dark. Sturdy hiking shoes and water recommended, bug spray optional. headlamps or flashlights are permitted; please bring red-tinted lights if possible.

  It may be chilly outside, but December 13th is a hot night for meteor watching. The spectacular Geminid Meteor Shower should peak this evening, with an impressive display of lights streaking across the night sky. The thin crescent moon will leave dark skies for good viewing conditions. Bring a camp chair, a thermos of hot chocolate or coffee, and your warmest clothes, and cross your fingers for a cloudless night.

This session's menu includes cinnamon sugar baked apples and berry grunt. Cooking equipment, food, recipes, and instructions will be provided; just bring your appetite!   While most people might think that it has become obsolete in the age of GPS enabled smart phones, the magnetic compass doesn't require batteries or a satellite signal and can sit ready for years in perfect working order. Join us and learn how to begin using this marvel of magnetism.

  Break your cabin fever by skating into a cheap and easy way of getting outdoors this winter. learn about the basics of cross country skiing and the steps and supplies you need to wax your own skis. A ski waxing demonstration will be given followed by a question and answer session.

  In the park after dark, come join Metroparks for some nocturnal fun! Just because it's dark out doesn't mean that the park inhabitants have gone to sleep. We'll use all of our senses on this walk and learn it's not scary to be outside in the dark. Dress accordingly for the weather and let's get outside.

  Whether it has fur, feathers or fins, Ohio's wildlife is a resource enjoyed by hikers, hunters, and anglers. Learn about what issues are facing these resources and how biologists track populations and make management decisions.

All Scouts will receive a Metroparks patch for participating.

1/1/18 Snowshoe Pop-Up Programs: Ages 5+ 12:00 PM Off-Site Register
  When the snow falls get outside and escape on a snowshoe hike through the winter wonderland of your Metroparks. Snowshoe pop-up programs will be posted on short notice when the snow conditions are right.

Register here to get your email on our email list; this does NOT register you for a snowshoe program. When it snows and a pop-up snowshoe program is scheduled you will receive an email alert; you must register for each pop-up program individually. There are no snowshoe programs pre-scheduled for January, February, or March; registering for these dates simply puts your email on the email list to be alerted when a pop-up program is scheduled.
