6/22/17 Bootcamp Fitness: (Ages 16+) 6:00 PM Middlegrounds Registration Closed
  This is class 2 of 4 for the session. Please register for the first class only on June 20.

This bootcamp class will be a total body workout. You will use your body weight to increase muscle and improve your conditioning. It will be done in station format and we will take advantage of all the great areas Middlegrounds Metropark has to offer.

All abilities are welcome to join us in a fun, challenging, outdoor workout.

Participants should make sure they have proper footwear and a water bottle. An exercise mat is optional.

Program fees include 4 classes on June 20, 22, 27 and 29.

 
6/22/17 Archery 201: (Ages 16+) 6:30 PM Westwinds Registration Closed
  This is session 2 of 2. Please register for the 6/15/17 program only.

Ready to aim farther? We will be using upgraded versions of our normal bows to tackle shooting from heights and at more distant targets. Then take your shot at our 3D trail.

The 101 course is a highly recommended prerequisite. Two class sessions: 6/15/17 and 6/22/17.

 
6/23/17 Good Health Walk: a brisk walk on park trails 11:00 AM Wildwood Preserve No Registration Required
  Take a brisk walk on park trails to increase your heart rate and get the blood flowing. This is a 50 min walk and covers over 2 miles at a quick walking pace. There will be no walk on federal holidays.  
6/24/17 Kayaking 101: (Adults) 9:00 AM Wiregrass Lake Registration Closed
  Work with American Canoe Association certified instructors to learn everything you need to know to plan paddling trips on your own. These programs cover on the water paddling skills and approximately 1.5-2.5 hours of classroom-based instruction on paddling safety. The on-water portion will include all basic stroke maneuvers and some rescue techniques. Beginner friendly, but not recommended for first time paddlers.

All boats and paddling gear provided; wear clothing and shoes to get wet. Participants must be 12 or older; all minors must be accompanied by an adult. Register all participants.

 
6/24/17 Yoga in the Park: CANCELLED:Teens and Adults 12:00 PM Wildwood Preserve Registration Closed
  This program is session 4 of 4. Program fees cover all four yoga classes in the June session, June 3, 10, 17, and 24. Please register for the June 3rd class only.

Enjoy the beauty of Wildwood Metropark and the benefits of Yoga. Gain flexibility, strength, balance, and stress management tools while surrounded by the peaceful offerings of the one of the area’s most beautiful preserves. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. All levels welcome. Teacher, Ann Heckler E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher), uses her 20 years of teaching experience to create options for all levels of yoga practice.

  Give these one-hour basic programs a try to see if you want to sign up for a class or eco-tour!

6/28/17 Archery League - Beginner: Equipment Provided (Ages 8+) 5:30 PM Westwinds Register
  No equipment? No problem! Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms. a boat, a blind and more!

Metroparks Outdoor Skills Staff will help walk you through your first 3D league. Meetings are every Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The 1st week will consist of instruction on shooting and scoring. No sights or other special equipment will be utilized unless you took a 201 course with Metroparks.

Classes consist of:
Youth (up to 16)
Women Only
Open (Men and Women)

(When registering, please specify which class you will be in the special needs field. All youth participants will require a parent or guardian supervision at all times.)

This is a 6 week league. Please register only for the first program on June 28th.

Save the date! Metroparks will host a celebration and awards party at Westwinds Metroparks, September 19, 2017. 6-8 pm.

6/29/17 Ladies Night Out, Middlegrounds Eco-tour: Kayak Adventure (Adults) 6:30 PM Middlegrounds Registration Closed
  Ladies, this evening is just for you! Explore your city in a whole new way, enjoy the beauty of the Maumee River through Toledo by kayak. Paddle with a naturalist guide and learn some of the nature and history surrounding the new Middlegrounds Metropark.

Boat and gear provided. Dress to get wet (no cotton. Participants must be 16 or older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Difficulty level: beginner; skill level required beginner; endurance required; low

6/30/17 Cycle Circle, Glow Roll: 5 miles (All Ages) 10:00 PM Farnsworth Register
  Light up the night with friends on a 5 mile bike ride through your favorite parks. Check out the night sky and listen for the calls of the night. A naturalist will lead the way.

Be sure to bring your bike, bike lights and/or reflective gear, a full water bottle, helmet (required, some provided), bug spray and friends for an evening in the parks. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

7/5/17 Evening on the Water--Bring Your Own Boat: (Families) 9:00 PM Wiregrass Lake Register
  For one evening only the beautiful Blue Creek Nona France Quarry pond will be open to bring your own boat for a peaceful night paddle.

Only hand-powered boats (canoe, kayak, rowboat, or SUP) will be allowed. Life jackets are required during this paddle, and are available to borrow if needed. Participants must be able to unload and transport their boat to the water on their own. Red lights are recommended for the bow and stern of your watercraft; lights will be available to borrow if needed.

 
7/7/17 Ladies Night Out, Bike & Hike: Adults 6:00 PM Side Cut Register
  Make it a night out in the parks and meet new friends in this women only bike and hike program. Bike 5-7 miles and hike 2-3 miles.

All styles of bikes are welcome. Please bring a helmet, bike lights and dress appropriately for the weather.

 
7/8/17 Mountain Biking 101, Cornering: (Adults Only) Presented by Spoke Life Cycles 10:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Register
  Learn the basics of off-road cycling and gain the skills and confidence required to ride the tougher sections of trail. Topics range from cycling basics and trail fundamentals to technical riding skills. This class is well-suited for riders of all levels.

Presented by Spoke Life Cycles.

Bring your own bike, helmet, and water. Limited mountain bikes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  Grab a GPS unit and enjoy a night-time nature scavenger hunt under the light of the full moon. GPS unit provided; price listed is per GPS unit. Families are welcome to share a unit.  
7/11/17 Basic Orienteering: (Ages 16+) 6:00 PM Oak Openings Preserve Register
  While most people might think that it has become obsolete in the age of GPS enabled smart phones, the magnetic compass doesn't require batteries or a satellite signal and can sit ready for years in perfect working order. Join us and learn how to begin using this marvel of magnetism.  
7/11/17 Archery League-Advanced: Ages 8 + 7:00 PM Westwinds Register
  Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms, a boat, a blind and more! The first meeting is mandatory, but then will be open from Tuesday through Sunday for participants to log their scores.

Classes will consist of:
Youth (Ages 8 to 16)
Traditional
Women Only
Hunter (12 in max stabilizer, screw in field points)
Open (range finder allowed)
Crossbow
(When registering, please specify which class you will compete in the Special Needs field.)

If you don't have your own equipment, you can still participate! Please register for the Beginners Only session.

This is a 10 week league. Please register only for the first program on July 11th. Thank you!
