  Navigate the local waterways and build a better understanding of what Toledo has to offer paddlers in this 2 hour navigation program. Participants will learn how to plot a course on a navigation chart, use a compass and the right of way rules on the water in a classroom setting. Please dress appropriately for the outdoors.

  This is class 4 of 4 for the session. Please register for the July 8th class only.

Enjoy the beauty of Wildwood Metropark and the benefits of Yoga. Gain flexibility, strength, balance, and stress management tools while surrounded by the peaceful offerings of the one of the area’s most beautiful preserves. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. All levels welcome. Teacher, Ann Heckler E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher), uses her 20 years of teaching experience to create options for all levels of yoga practice.

Program fees cover all four yoga classes in the July session, July 8, 15, 22, and 29.

  Work with American Canoe Association certified instructors to learn everything you need to know about safety on the water. This program will cover material that will be taught on the water as well as in a classroom setting to feel comfortable on large water bodies.  
7/29/17 Try it! Night Fishing: (Families and Children Ages 5+) 8:30 PM Side Cut Register
  Experience the thrill of a night time fishing adventure! Many species of game fish use the cover of darkness as a cloak to voraciously feed, creating this unique angling opportunity!

Participants will be introduced to effective techniques to target several species. All gear is provided and anglers over 16 must bring a valid Ohio Fishing License.

 
7/30/17 Cedar Point Wildlife Refuge Kayak Adventure: (Ages 16+) 9:00 AM Off-Site Registration Closed
  Join us on this open lake adventure as we paddle Maumee Bay to "Little Cedar Point". Experience some wave action and keep an eye out for the wildlife that calls the coastal wetlands home.

Pack a lunch to take in your boat and plenty of water. All boats and paddling gear provided; wear clothing and shoes to get wet (no cotton). Participants must be 16 or older; all minors must be accompanied by an adult. This is an intermediate difficulty paddle; skill level required: intermediate; endurance required: intermediate.

8/2/17 Calling All Scouts! Senior Girl Scouts , Paddling (Kayaks) 2:00 PM Wiregrass Lake Register
  Grab a paddle and head out to the water for a fun-filled day of paddling. Scouts will explore the background of kayaking, practice techniques, learn how to stay safe on the water (including rescues) and enjoy a paddling nature adventure. All scouts will receive a Metroparks patch for participating. All boats and other paddling gear provided; wear clothing and shoes to get wet (no cotton).
 
8/3/17 Intermediate Orienteering: 16 and Older 6:00 PM Oak Openings Preserve Register
  Put your Orienteering skills to the test on our orienteering course. Brief introduction to the course and navigation included. Dress for weather and have footwear appropriate for off-trail and uneven ground.

8/8/17 Archery League - Beginner: Equipment Provided (Ages 8+) 5:30 PM Westwinds Register
  No equipment? No problem! Come test your skills in this unique 3D Archery League at Westwinds Metropark. The 30-target course has special features that will keep everyone coming back for more. Shoot from 2 platforms. a boat, a blind and more!

Metroparks Outdoor Skills Staff will help walk you through your first 3D league. Meetings are every Tuesday at 5:30 pm. The 1st week will consist of instruction on shooting and scoring. No sights or other special equipment will be utilized unless you took a 201 course with Metroparks.

Classes consist of:
Youth (Ages 8 to 16)
Women Only
Open (Men and Women)

(When registering, please specify which class you will be in the special needs field. All youth participants will require a parent or guardian supervision at all times.)

This is a 6 week league. Please register only for the first program on August 8th.

Save the date! Metroparks will host a celebration and awards presentation at Westwinds Metroparks, September 19, 2017. 6-8 pm.

  Enjoy an invigorating 3 to 5 mile hike through your parks at night and explore the sights and sounds of the park after dark. Sturdy hiking shoes and water recommended, bug spray optional. Headlamps or flashlights are permitted during the hike; please bring red tinted lights if possible.  
8/10/17 Cycle Circle:Glow Roll: 5 miles: Adults 9:00 PM Swan Creek Preserve Register
  Light up the night with friends on a bike ride through your favorite parks. All skill levels and bikes are welcome. Please bring your bike, helmet (required), wear reflective gear and/or lights, bugspray and bring a water bottle. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

8/11/17 Ladies Night Out! Rappelling & Kayaking: (Adults Only) 5:30 PM Off-Site Registration Closed
  Calling all Wilderness Women! Metroparks Toledo and Wood County Park District team up to offer a special evening of rappelling and kayaking just for women. Rappel into the gorgeous Sawyer Quarry Nature Preserve. Then caravan over to Orleans Park for a night paddle up the Maumee River with a naturalist.

Rappelling and kayaking gear will be provided. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a change of clothes. This program is a collaboration of Wood County Parks District and Metroparks Toledo.

 
8/12/17 Mountain Biking 101, Manual Front Wheel Lift: (Ages 5-17) Presented by Spoke Life Cycles 10:00 AM Oak Openings Preserve Register
  Learn the basics of off-road cycling and gain the skills and confidence required to ride the tougher sections of trail. Topics range from cycling basics and trail fundamentals to technical riding skills. This class is well-suited for riders of all levels.

Presented by Spoke Life Cycles.

Bring your own bike, helmet, and water. Limited mountain bikes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  From symbiosis to biosphere, Metroparks naturalist will help you decode some of these terms and show you why they are so important. Become a scientist and join us for a series of experiments and activities that get you thinking about the environment. All scouts will receive a Metroparks patch for participating. Registration fee covers both sessions on 7/18 and 8/15. Please register for the first session only. First Class ranked Scouts and above only.

  These one-hour programs give you the very basics. Give it a try to see if you want to sign up for a class or eco-tour! All boards and other paddling gear provided; wear clothing and shoes to get wet (no cotton). Participants must be 9 or older to paddle their own SUP, children 5-7 must ride on a board with an adult guardian. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Register all participants ages 8+, please comment and list the ages for unregistered children ages 5-7 (for life jacket counts).
